Survivor Stories

A System That Stopped Caring

I don’t understand our system that claims to protect everyone…..and claims to not hold any prejudices or bias against anyone, but they definitely do when it comes to abused women and women abused by cops!

It is sad that those of us that have been abused by a cop are looked at like we are crazy, and like we don’t matter, because of who we were married to. I know Kathleen Savio and Stacy Peterson surely felt like this as well, because they cried out for help and nothing was done.

Being married to an abusive cop for a long time, I have learned a lot about fear and how to deal with it on a day-to-day basis, because no one has chosen to listen to me, nor any of the other women I have met that are married to cops. We are laughed at.

Would it be funny to you or any other non-survivors, that I have never been through abuse, if a gun was held to your/their heads and they were told that they were going to die if they didn’t do what they were told?!! Believe me, it is no fun at all! I have had a gun, a knife, rusty, but sharp tools, against many parts of my body, wondering if this is the day I am going to die…….Fear and hopelessness are horrible feelings…….

Some days you just wish he would stop and wish that you didn’t have to fear anymore.

I wish and pray for the day where I can find peace and happiness again. I wish that we all could.
